About Keystone.

Keystone Education Center is a private center offering a transformative set of social and skills-training for students with autism, other communication disorders, or related learning disabilities.

Learners receive small-group social and life skills development, and engage in their community. Community-Based Instruction (aka field trips) happen every Friday! Significant focus is placed on developing a love of learning and building self-confidence in order to help our students thrive during and after Keystone.

We accept the McKay or Gardiner Scholarship (now known as Step Up for Students).

We recognize training in reading and math is crucial, and we employ flexible  modifications and a special classroom environment to accommodate sensory needs.

Life & Social Skills

Our program addresses independent living, functional skills, and age-appropriate pre-vocational tasks in the classrooms and out in the community.

Science & Social Studies

Our program offers training and skill development through stimulating hands-on activities that keep our learners engaged and thriving.

Enrichment

We take the students out of the classroom and give them the opportunity to connect to what they are learning in new ways. This is designed to incorporate community programs that will develop their life skills, but it also focuses on broadening their learning development with guest speakers and activities designed to strengthen their understanding of lessons from the classroom.

  • 1. What types of students does Keystone Education Center serve?
Keystone Education Center is designed for children ages 8–13 with mild to moderate autism, adhd, anxiety, and related learning differences. Our multiage classrooms provide individualized support, small group instruction, and a nurturing environment where every child can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
  • 2. What makes Keystone different from other schools?
Keystone offers a unique blend of academic instruction, life skills, and weekly community outings. Our certified teachers use technology, hands-on learning, and character development in a small, private-school setting. No other school in our area provides this combination full-time.
  • 3. What is the class size and student-to-teacher ratio at Keystone Education Center?
We cap enrollment to keep a low student-to-teacher ratio and multiple certified educators on staff. This allows for personalized attention and flexible grouping based on student needs. In our multiage classroom settings, students are more likely to cooperate than compete. The spirit of cooperation and caring makes it possible for students to help each other as individuals, not see each other as competitors.
  • 4. What does a typical day look like?
Students start the day with a morning meeting in their homeroom, then rotate through engaging core subjects like math, reading, science, and civics. They will spend time together in outside free play time, and more structured PE class. The week also includes a rotation of art, dance and movement, karate, music, character development, and a weekly field trip. The schedule is consistent but responsive to student needs.
  • 5. How does Keystone Education Center support social development and life skills?
Social growth is woven into everything we do—from group activities and peer interactions to real-world learning during weekly field trips. We also teach daily life skills and positive character traits to help students grow into confident, independent young people.
  • 6. What is the tuition, and are scholarships or financial aid available?
For the 2025–26 school year, tuition is $12,500 plus a $700 deposit. We accept the Florida Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (formerly Gardiner/Step Up) and offer limited financial assistance through donations and grant support. We never want cost to prohibit a student from applying.
